An alternative for those on foot or bicycle who would like a shorter return to the center of town is to take Silverleaf Avenue, which goes behind the Coast Guard Station and Lighthouse, and wind through the Old Village.

Head up Bridge Street toward the historic Mitchell River Bridge. There are a nice variety of old and newer homes. Some of the homes date to the late 1800’s, as Bridge Street was laid out as a town road in the 1850’s. To help keep your bearings – on the right, after some homes that back up to The Old Village, are a series of more secluded private properties that border the south side of Mill Pond. Morris Island Road is off to the left, across mostly open space.

The next segment of the Loop Tour will pick up at the end of Bridge Street, after a couple of individual eTour sites around the bridge area.
