Another indicator of a salt marsh is the vegetation around the area - the sea lavender and sea rocket to your right and left. Lavender and sea rocket bloom here on Morris Island from August through October, covering the ground with beautiful shades of purple. Remember that all plants and animals are protected on the Refuge, and there is no collecting allowed.
