If the parking lot at the Visitor Center is full, you may park on the Causeway and walk in.

Usage Rules

  • Disturbance, destruction, or removal of wildlife (dead or alive), vegetation, and facilities is prohibited.
  • Under the Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1972, it is against the law to touch, feed or harass seals. Please stay at least 50 yards away from the seals.
  • Public uses of designated trails are permitted from half an hour before sunrise to half an hour after sunset.
  • Surf fishing on Morris Island is permitted 24 hours a day. Please park on the Causeway before and after refuge hours.
  • Hunting, fires, and camping are prohibited on the refuge.
  • Pets are not allowed on the Monomoy Islands. Dogs on Morris Island must be kept on a short leash (less than 6 feet).
  • Motorized vehicles and bikes are restricted to the refuge entrance. Bikes are not allowed on trails.
  • To reduce disturbance to wildlife, please stay out of areas marked as “area closed” or “beach closed” are off limits.
